Frank Pollard
Frank Pollard had a distinguished thirty-five year career at Allstate Insurance Companies. When he retired in 2002, Frank had been the Chief Information Officer and a member of the Allstate senior management team for eight years. He was responsible for information strategy and management, technology for the field, agency and home office organizations and customer services.
During his tenure at Allstate, Frank led a number of significant initiatives resulting in a vastly improved cost structure, improved handling of core functions such as claims and underwriting, enhanced interaction between the agents and company and overall customer service performance.
Three initiatives illustrate Frank’s vision as well as his skills in execution: 1) the redesign of field operations which resulted in major data center reconfiguration and consolidation, 2) the transformation to desk top technology throughout the company, and, 3) the establishment of a data utility which consolidated the retrieval and scoring of underwriting data using predictive analytics. Prior to becoming CIO in 1994, Frank held a number of increasingly broad positions in the field and was ultimately one of two senior vice presidents for field operations. Frank was responsible for all lines of business and all functions in the western and southern regions.
Frank is now involved in a number of technology-driven entrepreneurial initiatives and start-up companies focused on regulatory compliance, expertise location and data utilities. He is also engaged in several significant ex-CIO projects for federal agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security.
Frank graduated from Merrimack College with a degree in Marketing. He subsequently played professional baseball as a pitcher for the Red Sox and Philadelphia Phillies organizations. During his insurance career Frank attended continuing executive education programs at both Stanford and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Frank enjoys playing golf in his free time.
